About Us

1Natasha: Cookies is where it all started.  A long time ago, on a website not so far away, I maintained a blog and created a little thing called “Happy Cookie Friday” where I posted pictures of cookies to celebrate the joyous arrival of Fridays.  Where I’d once written about life, the universe, and other minor details, the blog changed more to photos of food, folks, flowers, and other fun things that start with “f.”  I wanted better cookie photos so I took photography classes.  I needed better equipment, so started the endless upgrades.  My photos needed better processing, so I took Photoshop classes.  Then a friend asked me to be second photographer at a wedding.  That was five years ago and I’ve been obsessed with the business ever since.  Truth is, as fun as cookies are, they’re nowhere near as exciting as people.   The real truth is, did you know they serve cake at every wedding?

33James: My first camera was a present from my father when I was just a young boy.  He handed it to me with a gravity I did not comprehend, promising me I would grow to love photography.  He was right.  He spent years teaching me his techniques, and communicated a fondness for black and white images that influences my photography today.  I have worked as a fashion and lingerie photographer, specialized in commercial applications, covered sporting events, and still enjoy photojournalistic assignments.  My introduction to wedding photography came a few years ago when I teamed up with Natasha.  She has joyously shared her love of the ritual and romance of this style with me.  Our divergent methods have grown into a single approach to an event.  She is lightning, I am thunder, a moment behind.

Samantha: Growing up, my grandfather was the family photographer following us around relentlessly with his lens.  I was transfixed with his magical gadgets!  His ever present 8mm movie camera capturing us forever silently cavorting in the yard, or his Polaroid SX-70 which miraculously popped open to burst forth glossy moments destined for nostalgia.  Yes, I most certainly caught the photography bug from him.  As a so-called “grown-up,” after years in art school and various photography classes, I now have my own gadgets with which to make my own brand of magic.    I live for outdoor photography, landscapes, animals, and abstract imagery.  Bringing a fleeting moment to life for others to get lost in or to ponder, and most importantantly to enjoy, is such a pleasure!  Sharing my love of photography in collaboration with Natasha and James is simply a dream come true.
