On one of the nicer spring days this month we drove down to Tacoma to meet with Andrea and Josh at Point Defiance Park for their engagement session. The park is a 702-acre playground with a forest, saltwater beaches, flower gardens, and hiking and running trails. The couple decided to bring their dog Dakota along for the shoot, so Josh’s parents joined us to keep an eye on it while we shot some sequences.
We decided to start near our parking spot in a beautiful heavily treed area with a small pond and large open grass slope. After we had taken a few shots of just the couple, Josh went and retrieved Dakota for some photos.
Our next stop was further into the park at Owen Beach. With its abundance of drift wood and views of Vashon Island and Mount Rainier, it is the most popular part of Point Defiance. This time we started with the dog so it could get some exercise while we moved along the shore.
As a surprise for Josh’s recent birthday, Andrea got together with his brother and finished the restoration of his second love, the vintage Mustang above. Is there any wonder why he is so in love?
For our final set of photos we followed Josh’s dad through the park’s 5 mile drive of old growth forest to a section with a breathtaking view of the Puget Sound. As the afternoon passed into evening, Josh showed us how beautiful both girls are in the setting sunlight.
We had a great time with Andrea, Josh, and his parents, and we are excited to join them for the couple’s big ride this summer.
