Our friendly neighborhood cupcake joint, Cupcake Royale, celebrated Valentine’s this year by creating a little something extra special.  It’s called Deathcake Royale.

The cake boasts two kinds of ganache (dark chocolate and espresso), chocolate cake royale, and theo chocolate decadence (the best chocolate money can buy).  So, for the sake of St. Val, we had to try one.

It was very, very chocolatey, and if you love dark chocolate, you’d no doubt love this.  Me, I prefer my favorite something else from Cupcake Royale.

Oh yeah.  Red velvet.  For you carrot cupcake folks, there’s some love for you on the right.

Cupcakes aren’t the only fun thing to buy at Royale.

Now that’s just one more movement I’m getting behind.  And into my belly.  I love edible movements, don’t you?

As we exited the Royale (I can never say that word without thinking of Vincent Vega–damn you, Quentin Tarantino!), I spotted this dude in the window.

He’s obviously filling out his box of Strawberry Shortcake Valentine cards that he’ll be doling out to his closest friends, and what better place to do it while nibbling a red velvet and sipping Verite out of a frostitution cup?

Happy Valentine’s Day, Easta Bunny!  Bok bok!

  1. And I’m so far away…
We are SO hitting up The Royale in March! :)
    I insist!

    *DROOL*!!!

  2. I was all about the deathcake royale till you said it was all about the dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is okay, but not my fav thing. HOWEVER, then you go and hit my FAV thing EVER – the red velvet cupcake. OMG. I want one. Now. Please?

  3. Oh! I love that place, and, like you, am partial to the Red Velvet (but will also devour a Lavendar cupcake, on occasion). There’s one closer to you, though (35th? In Madrona someplace) unless it’s gone… or you’ve moved.

I prefer CR any day to Trophy or NY Cupcakes, or any of those other poseurs!
